Vi Vu
Privacy Policy
Effective 29 May 2026. Developer: Ho Le Minh Thach.
This policy describes how the iOS app Vi Vu handles information for the current local-first MVP.
Summary
- No account, sign-in, or developer-operated backend for trail progress.
- Apple Health is used only to read walking/running distance (and step counts shown in the UI) to advance the virtual trail.
- The map shows a curated route; it is not a live GPS tracker.
- No sale of data, no advertising use, no third-party analytics SDKs in the MVP.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission, the app reads walking and running distance and step count from Apple Health. Distance is converted to kilometers and applied 1:1 to virtual trail progress. The app does not write data back to Health.
Health data is used only for progress, widgets, and (if you allow) local checkpoint or badge notifications. It is not used for marketing or sold to third parties.
Revoke access in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Vi Vu.
Data on your device
Progress and settings are stored locally using SwiftData, UserDefaults, and an App Group container shared with the optional Home Screen widget. Deleting the app generally removes this data. There is no cloud backup of your trail in the MVP.
Notifications
Optional local notifications may alert you when you reach checkpoints or unlock badges. They are scheduled on-device. Control them in iOS Settings.
Map
The Map tab uses MapKit to show the curated trail and your progress along it. The app does not request Core Location and does not track your real-world GPS position.
What we do not do (MVP)
- Collect account credentials inside the app.
- Send Health or trail data to our servers.
- Use third-party analytics or advertising that profiles you.
- Use HealthKit data for marketing (per Apple App Store guidelines).
Sharing
We do not sell or trade your personal information. We do not share Health or trail data with third parties for their marketing or analytics in the MVP. Apple provides HealthKit, MapKit, and distribution under their own policies.
Retention and deletion
Uninstalling the app is the primary way to remove local trail data. Revoking Health access stops new reads. We do not keep a separate server copy to delete for the MVP.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy when permissions or features change. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy where permitted by law.
